I am amazed at the range of home furnishings available in Barbados, however for anyone thinking of moving out here in general prices tend to be higher than you can buy them for in the UK. This is because most goods are imported from the States. If your taste is contemporary like ours I have to warn you that the furniture is heavily influenced by the States and therefore the style is more “traditional”. They do not have the full range in store but you can order special items.
We have bought local furniture made in Barbados which was not as expensive because there is no import tax to pay and this supports the local economy.
At Canewood, just off the ABC Highway heading North there are a variety of shops together, Dwellings, Walkers World, Gajah Home and Do it Best, all selling a good selection of home wares.
There are lots of pretty cushions available influenced by the colours of the Caribbean ranging from $39.95-$129.95 (£12.48 – £40.60).
